Review:

For the first half of the trailer, the film reminds me of contemplative post-apocalyptic dramas like Children of Men, but as the trailer concluded, the film looks less contemplative and more action oriented.

Much of my concerns from the original trailer have been slightly allayed, but something about the film makes it look like it could just be a vain attempt at capturing some post-apocalyptic zeitgeist.

Oscar Prospects:

It has a good release point to be a contender for the Oscars and Cormac McCarthy's novel is a celebrated work and with the kind of talent involved in the production, it could be a strong contender...if direct John Hillcoat's lack of a notable oeuvre doesn't hurt the film.
