POSTERS

Preview: Saw VI (2009)

Synopsis:

The sixth film in the torture-device horror series.

  • Poster: B; B-; C

Review:

From a distance, it' difficult to make out the content of the poster. However, after you watch the trailer and study it a little better, the image becomes more clear and decently fitting. And even without the full title, it's easy to get and understand the reference to the series.

It's an interesting decision to make a fist that can double as a laced glove, but what its symbolic purpose is can't be deduced from the poster nor from the franchise.

What this device is I can't tell and that makes for a rather disappointing poster as part of the fun is being able to see what's going on and being either disturbed or amused by it, something this series seems to be failing at.

  • Trailer: C; C

Review:

Although this teaser does very little to excite the potential audience except by merely existing, the backtracking shots through a simulated environment with barely-visible scenes from the film passing quickly by may be sufficient.

Even though this trailer features many actual, more close up detailed scenes from the film, it still doesn't give an idea of the purpose of the film and serves very little purpose than a traditional teaser.

Oscar Prospects:

None.

A vast improvement over the previous two installments of the series taking on the health insurance industry in the series' first overtly political statement.
