A futuristic film about Mexican illegals working in America while still living in Mexico, operating heavy machines remotely through the internet. The story follows one such worker and his pursuit of a better life.
If you haven't seen the trailer, you probably have no idea what the above image is about, which is a bit of a detriment. Publicity can hope people will recognize it from the trailer, but otherwise, it won't do anything to pull in an audience.
With a twist of Cyberpunk, Sleep Dealer's trailer doesn't present much of interest outside of its sci-fi story. There's little to give someone an idea what kind of film they'll be watching and what real statement the makers are trying to make.
Foreign Language Film is not a category that recognizes risk-takers. Futuristic stories aren't incredibly popular even if they have a deep value of meaning. So, don't expect anyone to even submit the film for consideration.
