A Dominican baseball star is recruited to a U.S. minor league baseball team. This film is about his struggles to live up to expectations and make a life for himself.
Symbolically, there's little of relevance here. A simple shot of the baseball player's back looking up at a huge plume of green fireworks is hardly an eye-pleasing design. Sure, the exploding firework could bring eyes to the poster, there's nothing to make them stay for long.
The pacing of the trailer is atrocious. It plays out as if the entire film has been capsuled into the 2-minute trailer. The collapse of story into such a small frame while make it feel like you've already seen the entire film does not do the movie any favors.
Sports films are often Oscar no-shows. This doesn't look like to be an Oscar-calibre film.
I have not seen this film.
