Traveling to Buenos Aires in search of his long-absent brother, a young man discovers more about his brother and their family history as he explores the once-promising writer's unfinished tome.
The splash of color doesn't quite fit with the black-and-white style of the poster. If it's intent is to bring the viewer's attention to the poster amidst the colorful prints that hang in theater lobby, a fully black-and-white poster might have been more suficient. Of course, the selected images aren't exceedingly interesting and it does little to entice an audience.
The depth of the black-and-white cinematography in the trailer is impressive and while we don't learn nearly as much about the film as we would like, there are sufficient flourishes and emotional engagements to make it seem vital and important.
A lot depends on how critics respond. This is Francis Ford Coppola's first Original Screenplay since The Conversation, but can more than 20 years really improve someone who hasn't been at the top of his game in at least a decade? Critics will make the initial determination and based on their thoughts, the Academy will weigh in, but even if the film doesn't succeed with critics, Coppola might still end up with an Original Screeenplay nomination.
I have not seen this film.
