POSTERS

Preview: The White Ribbon (2009)

Synopsis:

A series of odd occurrences strike a small German village shortly before the outbreak of World War I and plunge the community into a bizarre, demented world.

Review:

Too much blank space. And while the film is in black and white, the desire to stick with those colors and blend in a brief bit of red makes for an awfully boring poster.

  • Trailer: B-

Review:

The trailer does a good job of establishing mood and creating a sense of mystery. Although the description I've seen of the film suggests something in the vein of Children of the Corn, that may be farther from the truth than we imagine.

Oscar Prospects:

One of the submissions for this year's Foreign Language Film Oscar, I could see this, due to its publicity campaign, earning one of the five slots.
