Preview: Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009)

Synopsis:

A talented biochemistry student who sells her body as a prostitute on the side is involved in a sordid murder case in the true-life story of Barbara Hoffman and her notorious exploits.

Review:

Cold and bitter may be appropriate for the visage we see on the poster, but the blues and whites are far too clean and unrealistic to be effective and the red is overemphasized.

• Trailer: C+

Review:

There's a part of me that is fascinated by real-life murder mysteries and serial killers, but this trailer doesn't seem to suggest either are really that clear as the trailer hardly makes mention of the real-life nature of the film or that it even possesses anything in the way of suspense.

Oscar Prospects:

Serial killer flicks have very rarely been recognized by the Academy and even Monster only managed to nab one nomination. Though, Thora Birch does look frighteningly good and could earn a few critics' accolades in the year-end run-up to the Oscars.
