A popular country superstar has just been released from jail after a drunken driving offense. She must come to terms with her life and rebuild what she almost destroyed.
The colors are almost enjoyable, but the way the lighting is played along the four characters and then how they are framed and overlapped make everything look off-kilter and uninspiring.
A typical country music biopic with few original set pieces or plot devices on display. It will appeal to the right (country music loving) audience with the rest of the country a bit uninterested.
While the film isn't likely to be on Oscar's radar for most awards, Gwyneth Paltrow is entering the super-crowded Best Actress field and may reprieve her lackluster post-Oscar career with a nomination.
I have not seen this film.
