Chosen to write a powerful politician's memoirs, a young ghost writer discovers a web of lies and intrigue that puts him in mortal danger.
Although it's a subtle as a brick bat to the head, the looming visage of the politician in the background peering down on the writer works, especially in such drained and foreboding colors.
The trailer features a few cheep thriller tactics, but suggests a potentially interesting film, though one emotionally distant. This is, after all, a Roman Polanski film.
Polanski is not stranger to the Oscars, but a February release suggests it's not nearly as terrific a film as some might wish it were.
I have not seen this film.
