Preview: Harry Brown (2010)

Synopsis:

Finding his neighborhood increasingly dangerous and not wanting to end up like his murdered friend, Harry Brown puts his old Marine training to use and becomes a vigilante to protect his home and neighbors.

Review:

His shadow providing the rest of the poster's imagery is a good, though not original touch. Michael Caine looks perfectly determined and may well bring in an audience.

Review:

We've seen something similar before. Jodie Foster's The Brave One differs only in that it was her character that was beaten and her husband murdered that propel her to vigilantism. This time around, Michael Caine is just incensed at what he sees and is saddened by the loss of his friend. Similar concepts, not too dissimilar trailers, but could still end up being a solid film.

Oscar Prospects:

It releases in late April which won't provide much of a bump, but there will certainly be some talking Michael Caine up for a Best Actor nomination, but just ask Jodie Foster how that worked for her.
