Preview: Love Ranch (2010)

Synopsis:

Standing beside her husband as he tries to get Nevada to legalize prostitution and thereby protect his investment, his wife and manager of the brothel begins falling for the foreign boxer he takes on in an attempt to bring more money in.

Review:

It's originality is what makes it most striking. The problem is the combination of images looks fairly unoriginal which is a stark contrast to what I like most about the poster.

• Trailer: B

Review:

Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci make an unlikely but most interesting potential team. The story doesn't appear to be that new, but the idea and cast may make it an entertaining film.

Oscar Prospects:

Releasing a film like this in June suggests a lack of confidence in the product. Mirren and Pesci both might have been Oscar contenders has this released in the fall sweet spot of early December.
