A documentary about the underground rock-n-roll scene in Iran, a country where the music is illegal and where arrest is not uncommon.
The color scheme is atrocious, and the image selection isn't terribly great, but for what it is, it works.
Any documentary that celebrates a group of individuals taking up the mantle of music to define their protest, subverting the will of the government and working to liberate their country from oppression deserves consideration.
Although Aghan Star explore similar territory and was roundly ignored by the Academy, this film might be better at tickling the Academy's fancy, taking place in Iran instead of Afghanistan and covering a far more subversive topic.
I have not seen this film.
