A middle-aged homebody relies in his internal superhero to guide him through life's more difficult decisions, seemingly preferring to act more like a teenager than like a grown up.
The symbolism here feels like it should be reversed with Ryan Reynolds bursting out of Jeff Daniels' chest, but I suppose I understand why it's this way, though it doesn't work perfectly. At least Reynolds' presence might draw a few unsuspecting fans into this thought-provoking feature.
The film and its not-that-stellar premise are improved upon by the presence of Jeff Daniels, Lisa Kudrow and Ryan Reynolds.
