Preview: Please Give (2010)

Synopsis:

A unnecessarily guilt-ridden mother considers it her life's work to help those less fortunate even if it pushes her away from her family.

Review:

The bleeding heart literalism is the worst part of the poster, followed very closely by the bright white of the background. It's too bad the helping hand image in the lower corner isn't more embellished or expanded upon with other elements in the poster's design.

Review:

After several films where I've felt Catherine Keener has slept through the film and given a rather mediocre performance, she seems to be back at the top of her game with this film. The film itself looks like it might not be your carbon copy family seriocomedy.

Oscar Prospects:

Catherine Keener is in need of some Oscar recognition, but I don't know if this will be a film like The Savages or one like The Squid and the Whale.
