Preview: The Runaways (2010)

Synopsis:

Based on the true story of an all-female musical group trying to make it in the world of music when men were the dominant group leaders of the period.

Review:

The second poser, showing a rather mature Dakota Fanning and an almost unrecognizable Kristen Stewart is a nice selection, but it's about on par with the "Cherry Bomb" image in the first poster which, anyone familiar with the band, may more readily associate with the film than the second image.

• Trailer: B-

Review:

Seeing Fanning all grown up, and not at all looking like herself, should be interesting. Although it's already released and hasn't made much of a splash, it's good to see both Fanning and Stewart stretching themselves and not just hopping on every populist bandwagon they can find.

Oscar Prospects:

Released too early in the year with very little buzz. Stewart and Fanning won't contender, nor will the film. That is unless the studio pushes hard and heavy.
