Preview: The Sicilian Girl (2010)

Synopsis:

A young girl betrays her mafia family to avenge the murder of her father and brother.

Review:

After such a strong trailer, to have a rather lackluster poster is a bit dispiriting. Drawn and unappealing, the title swaths and colors are diverting and poorly chosen.

• Trailer: B+

Review:

It is the kind of story that is seldom told and being based on a true story lends credibility to a seemingly powerful tale. Although the trailer itself is a bit disjointed in places, it conveys enough positive sentiment towards the film as to accomplish its purpose.

Oscar Prospects:

A Foreign Language Film nomination wouldn't be at all surprising, though it needs to be submitted first.
