A re-envisioning of the legendary '80s virtual reality film Tron

Review:

I would prefer something more detailed from a film drawn almost entirely from visual effects, but an overly simplified presentation of the chase scene from the trailer is not exciting.

I think what sells me most about this poster is the color scheme. It's straight out of the '80s cult classic, but it fits so amazingly well, though the actor positioning is a bit odd, but hopefully explained better within the film.

Although it may not look like it below (some browsers won't show a space between the posters), this is actually a set of three posters designed to be displayed side-by-side. The colors are quite vivid despite being relatively limited, though it makes me wonder if we're looking at the battle of the Jeff Bridgeses...the image on the left looks like a younger Bridges while the one on the right is an obvious older Bridges. Seeing the film may be the only way to know for certain.

Review:

With all the technology out there, my biggest complaint is that they still can't give people realistic movement and expressions. When a video game company like Blizzard can make more realistic-looking, moving and acting animations, then why can't a major Hollywood studio? Who really knows, but I'm sure this will be a hit even if the animation doesn't improve.

Although the closing shot of the trailer is coldly calculating, it's fairly effective in expressing just how visual effects heavy this film is and, even though the trailer doesn't talk about the 3D aspect, this trailer does a fairly good job of capitalizing on what could be possible if it were in 3D (and if I were seeing it before a 3D movie, I might have seen it in 3D). So, fairly effective and should help promote strong business.

At least we know that the money spent to make this film is all right there on the screen. The effects look pretty damned good, though the jury is still out on how convincing they'll make Jeff Bridges as a younger man. However, this should be plenty of inspiration to drag a lot of people to the theater.

Oscar Prospects:

Without knowing the full slate of potential visual effects contenders for 2010, I'm sure this one will be in the hunt, but it's ultimate triumph depends entirely on the competition.
