Faced with foreclosure, a mother seeks out her bond-jumping ex-husband so she can turn him in and avoid losing her home for her and her children.
I love the placid blue hues to the poster, though the mother's embedded image is a bit distracting.
The premise sounds interesting, but my disappointment comes entirely from the common portrayal of all Ozarkians as unwashed, impoverished hicks. Hopefully the story can make up for those irritating aspects. Of course, the very few mainstream reviews praising the film in that trailer suggest that perhaps it's not nearly as great as it's being portrayed to be.
It won awards at Sundance, but that doesn't make it an Oscar contender automatically. Jennifer Lawrence might be a contender for Best Actress and perhaps a screenplay nomination, but the film doesn't scream Oscar.
I have not seen this film.
