High concepts, especially for documentaries, are suitably rare, but sometimes the idea is more impressive on paper than in execution. This is a very strong idea that just feels overzealous in the given framework.
The trailer uses an array of evocative techniques from music to dropping right into realism at the perfect moment. While you don't get enough of a sense of the documentary's appeal, the trailer is exceptionally well crafted.
War docs are sometimes embraced by the Academy but not always and almost always requires support from critics.
