Preview: Beginning of the Great Revival (2011)

Synopsis:

A Chinese film about the historical overthrow of the Imperial system in favor of Communism.

Review:

It's a classic, multi-actor poster trying to show off as many as they can. While the rest of the image doesn't say much about the film, it's nice to see someone trying to recapture the essence of 50+ years ago.

• Trailer: B+

Review:

Very little dialogue is a brave decision, but highlighting the sweep of the film may do more to bring in business than anything else. It looks like a staggering achievement, though I worry that it might fall on the side of propoganda instead of historical fact.

Oscar Prospects:

China is likely to submit the film for Oscar consideration, at least if they know what's good for them. Oftentimes the Academy loves its sweeping epics, which might get it a nomination.
