After witnessing a grizzly killing, a young woman is pursued by and falls in love with the very murderer she saw commit the crime. Yet, his penchant for violence threatens her safety and she must decide if she can really love such a cold and heartless man despite her deep emotional connection.
It's fairly traditional style and although it has some nice coloring, it feels so outdated that it might not serve the film very well.
Interesting concepts with solid casts are facing increasingly unexceptional trailers. How is a film like this supposed to gain traction when it looks like every other unsuccessful film in the genre. The merits shine through a bit, but may not be enough.
An August release is often a death-knell for such a small film. In spite of Helen Mirren's presence, I doubt the film will be remembered outside of Art Direction and Costume Design come Oscar time and even those categories face an uphill battle.
I have not seen this film.
