Preview: In a Better World (2011)

Synopsis:

After the death of his wife, a doctor keen on traveling into Africa to provide medical care for the native population, must leave behind his son with a neighbor family who try to look after him while his mother's death weighs heavily on him.

Review:

A fairly standard trailer with two broad visual elements that don't tell the viewer much about what the film is trying to achieve. At least, unlike the trailer, this one is updated to the latest data.

Review:

Obviously cut prior to the film's win at the Academy Awards, this trailer starts off unexceptionally, but by the end seems like a compelling narrative awaits. What the ultimate verdict is, I won't know for some time, but it looks like it might be worth the look.

Oscar Prospects:

It has already won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, so that will be the extent of its Oscar contention.
