Exploring the life and controversial methods employed by F.B.I. director J. Edgar Hoover, Clint Eastwood holds back little about this loathed historical figure.
Leonardo DiCaprio is a suitable selling tool and as he is the title character, it makes sense, but the design work seems too simplistic to be effective and it's not a particularly compelling image.
There's a lot to take in with this trailer and almost the entire film seems to be contained within, but it does not prevent it from looking like one hell of a film.
This is one of the year's big Oscar contenders. It should compete in several categories: Best Picture, Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Supporting Actor (Armie Hammer), Supporting Actress (Judi Dench, Naomi Watts), Director, Original Screenplay, Original Score, Editing, Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design and Sound Mixing.
I have not seen this film.
