Preview: One Day (2011)

Synopsis:

Over the course of 20-plus years, a couple who met in college face a challenging road through friendship towards a romantic relationship.

Review:

Apart from the nice change of pace that is the color scheme, this generic poster gives no real sense of the film's concept.

• Trailer: C+

Review:

Anne Hathaway with a British accent seems a bit of a stretch, so I'm curious how the film will actually play. The concept has some merit, but the trailer does a poor job selling it, making it more likely that audiences will ignore than film than give it a shot for being original.

Oscar Prospects:

There was a time when I heard the concept and who was starring that I thought it might have a chance with the Academy, but now that I've seen the trailer and the film has earned a dubious August release, I can't help but feel that the film wasn't nearly as good as producers hoped it would be.
