An ideological war between a megachurch preacher and a best-selling atheist leads to a murder comedy that pits an unsuspecting buffoon in the middle of the turmoil.
It reminds me of the old style of comic poster design. With a hapless fellow trapped in the grip of praying hands against a heavenly backdrop and flowing scroll work add a light touch to the design. The multi-person pictures at the top would normally annoy me, but it works quite well here. Though, you have to feel sorry for Jim Gaffigan. He gets his image on the front of the poster, but is left out of the five-name line-up at the top of the poster.
The poster gives the impression of an old-fashioned comic caper, as we might have seen in the 1970's or 1980's. The problem is the trailer destroys those impressions giving us what seems like a modern funny story that has no sense of time and place.
None.
I have not seen this film.
