Preview: House At the End of the Street (2012)

Mysterious noises and situations occur when a mother and daughter move into a new house where the events must be unravelled backwards.

  • Poster: C

I'll give it style points for originality, but ultimately it's an overly simplified design without an engaging element to pull it completely outside of the box.

  • Trailer: C- / C / D+

The trailer is at once irritating and imaginative. Although this doesn't look like the kind of film to bolster Jennifer Lawrence's rising star, it also doesn't look like the kind of film anyone's going to pay much attention to.

The first trailer gave a bit too much of the plot away. This second trailer does a better job building suspense, though it ultimately looks like a waste of resources and talent.

Someone tell these people who craft trailers that dumbing them down for audiences doesn't encourage them to want to see it. Even the lowest common denominator complains about trailers that give away too much information. So, please stop.
