Preview: Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure (2012)

The popular children's program finds its way to the big screen.

  • Poster: B-

It's a jubilant kids film, so the vibrancy of the poster is entirely fitting and it's noticeable enough for fans of the Oogieloves to be a rather easy sell to those audiences, but no one else.

  • Trailer: C / C+

The first trailer goes on a laundry list of "celebrities" who appear in the film and, apart form Cloris Leachman, none of them are the major stars the trailer would suggest. Even Leachman wouldn't be recognizable to the kids that will be watching this film, though parents might recognize some of the other actors like Cary Elwes and maybe Toni Braxton. It's also a hyper cheesy production that will only appeal to the target audience, though I doubt it was intended for more than that.

Removing the "celebrity" aspect of the first trailer, this one instead focuses on audience reaction and excitement which, while seemingly staged, will do a fine job selling it to excitable parents and their equally excitable children.
