Preview: Red Hook Summer (2012)


A youth from a different ghetto finds himself out of place in the streets of Brooklyn under the care of a preacher who wants him to find God even against his will.

I'm not enamored with the design, but it's at least a spunky, counter-common design unlike much of what we're seeing these days. It does conjure some images of Spike Lee's earlier work without feeling like a rip-off.

Whomever made this trailer is going out of their way to conjure up images of Spike Lee as the director he used to be, not the one he seems to have become. I don't know if it will work because this looks a lot more home-movie-esque than his previous work.
