1. Which of the four new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
I'm not really too keen on any of this week's entries, though The Vow would probably be best worth my time.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
See In Darkness, the only limited release film this week that could also be an Oscar winner.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
I have two options of films I'd like to see, but one is so clearly ahead of the other that I have to recommend The Woman in Black.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
None of the films releasing on a limited pattern appeal to me other than The Innkeepers.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
It's so hard to decide between three different types of cheese. So, I'm going with Man on a Ledge because I like Sam Worthington better than modern Liam Neeson or any kind of Katherine Heigl.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
The premise is interesting enough to make Declaration of War a solid choice for this weekend.

There's no alternative but Haywire. See it.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
There's no question that in spite of it being the only re-release of the week, it could be more original than the other two offerings. Check out Beauty and the Beast in 3D.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Of the two films releasing, I'd go with Loosies. The chance of it being passable entertainment is higher.

1. Would you recommend readers see The Devil Inside?
Absolutely not. The more money we throw at this repetitive exorcism genre, the more idiotic films they're going to make.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
I think Roadie looks like a good deal of fun even if it looks wholly predictable.

1. With no new wide releases this week, what films (one on DVD and one in theaters) would you most recommend people catch up with?
Source Code is one of the very best films of the year and should be considered before almost anything else (assuming you've already seen Harry Potter which is a more important film to see for anyone who's a fan of the franchise. As for what's still in theaters? If you can find Martha Marcy May Marlene, you should see it (if you're ok with art films). If art isn't your style, The Adventures of Tintin is what I would recommend.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
The better reviews are going to A Separation, but The Iron Lady is guaranteed an Oscar nomination, so give that one first consideration from an Oscar-completist perspective.

1. Which of the six new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
It's a tough call with so many potential quality pictures. From this lot, I'd sit down to watch The Adventures of Tintin first.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Another challenging set to choose from, but Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close has the loudest Oscar buzz, so I'd start there.
Peter J. Patrick
1. Which of the six new wide releases would you
choose to recommend above the others?
War Horse is the one I recommend. Early reviews are split on this making it one of those films you simply have to see to form your own opinion.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. For the same reason as War Horse.
Tripp Burton
1. Which of the six new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
I'm going to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but all these films will have their passionate lovers.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Albert Nobbs has the best word of mouth!

1. Which of the two new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
When faced with a choice between two evils, go with the one that has the most panache. Sherlock Holmes wins that contest.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
You should see Carnage just for the pure wattage of the female cast.

1. Which of the two new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Give Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve a try. He loves romantics and his films are always at least marginally amusing.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
There are several I recommend (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, We Need to Talk About Kevin and Young Adult), but of these three, I'd give Young Adult the top consideration.

1. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
There's no question that you should see Shame. Don't worry about the NC-17 rating, it's mostly for sex anyway, which makes the rating worthless.
Peter J. Patrick
1. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Shame, but be forewarned that its depiciton of sexual addiciton is more graphic than you may be comfortable with. Still, it's a major film that no cineaste can afford to miss.
Tripp Burton
1. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Shame is the one with all the buzz, although I am very interested in Sleeping Beauty.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
This is a tough choice. A case could be made for any of them, but if I had to choose the one I have the highest anticipation for, it's Arthur Christmas. Martin Scrosese would be enough for me to recommend Hugo instead if the first trailer hadn't been so painful.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Four potentially great films, but of these, The Artist has the most potential.

The Descendants is undeniably the film to see this weekend.

I say see the movie that's more likely to be funny: A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Charlotte Rampling's a terrific actress, so any documentary about her is probably also terrific.
