Synopsis:

Review: The first design sets our lead character against the backdrop in which the story takes place, at once identifying a period of history where such a figure would not normally be found. The second design goes for the cheap period drama aesthetic.

Trailer: B-

Review: The trailer establishes the premise quickly, but doesn’t give way to much drama even though we suspect that there is some. Keeping the trailer too refined also keeps it from feeling too fresh or exciting.

Oscar Prospects:

Early reviews haven’t been kind, though this is the kind of film that used to get nominated for the Production Design and especially Costume Design categories each year even if it wasn’t a critical hit.
