Release Date:

October 25, 2013

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “The story of a young lesbian couple’s beginning, middle and possible end.”

Poster: C (2)

Review: This pair of posters isn’t too different from one another and neither are particularly grand or sweeping statements. Their simple elegance is that they reveal two women in a near-impact kiss situation. Apart from that, nothing is engaging or exciting and certainly there’s nothing to entice viewership.

Trailer: C+

Review: It’s always strange when a film that has been celebrated by other critics has such an inexpressive, rudimentary trailer that doesn’t sell its strongest achievements very well.

Oscar Prospects:

Ineligible for the Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars due to a release date issue, the film will likely be pushed for other consideration including Best Picture its director, actresses and screenplay. The problem is that the film carries an NC-17 rating, which is one of the reasons Shame couldn’t crack the Oscar slate. This film could be different, but it just doesn’t seem like the kind of acclaimed foreign language film that makes it to the big show.

Revisions:
