Review: (#1) This very obvious, but humorous play on the Halloween movie poster. The trailer doesn’t play much homage to that, but the nods to horror flicks of the 1970s and 1980s are everywhere, suggesting this is just as much a symbol of the film’s intentions as it is a cute pun.

(#2) First take on Halloween and now The Exorcist. Too bad there aren’t more of these A Nightmare on Elm Street would be a most fascinating choice. (#3) This design is a little less special than the rest, but it works for what it does. (#4) I wonder if this is supposed to resemble The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It doesn’t seem that familiar to me, but it’s no less interesting. (#5-#7) Flashlights and campfires are a part of our childhoods, which makes these theatrical expressions quite fitting even if the design isn’t that ingenious.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C

Review: (#1) The teaser avoids too many details, which makes the film look like a Night of the Living Dead with a comedy touch. That might work to secure a few unlikely attendees. (#2) This trailer doesn’t quite succeed, setting up a movie with strong comic elements, but also some badly cheap and corny ones. It’s as if Tyler Perry doesn’t quite know how to make an effective horror parody.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
