Review: (#1) If you’re a fan of the predecessor, this is probably all it will take to get you to the theater. For everyone else, it’s a bland, inexpressive design that holds little value beyond simple fan service.

(#2) It’s a continuation of the prior design with Sylvester Stallone as the central figure. It does not make anything better. (#3) This says a lot about a film that some audiences will want to see and won’t need much more than this. (#4) While the prior design looked more authentic, this design looks manipulated.

(#5) With Drago’s son squaring off against Creed’s, the stakes couldn’t be more ’80s in this throwback to the film from which these original characters hail. (#6) More of the same with this background-deprived, foreground-staged design.

Trailer Rating: C+ / B

Review: (#1) Another example of a trailer designed to entice fans of the series into the theater rather than to convert new audiences. It carries over from the prior, references back to the original Rocky series like the prior and features a character that does not seem to have learned much from his previous outing. That will appeal perhaps to die hards, but might come across as a bit desperate to anyone else.

(#2) If you were already a fan of the Rocky films and/or became a fan of the Creed film, I don’t think there’s anything in this trailer that won’t entice you. The film very much feels like it’s just a commonplace sequel, all the way down to the callbacks to the original films.

Oscar Prospects:

The first film never managed to be much of an Oscar contender. The sequel is likely to suffer from its own existence.
