Review: Just because I get the design aesthetic doesn’t mean I care much for it. He may be offering a little “pill” to make things better, but if it requires me to swallow the “pill” to like it, I’m not going to.

The second design lacks innovation and fascination, but if you’re a fan of the emaciated Matthew McConaughey, then you might be interested.

Review: The trailer sets the wrong tone from the opening, establishing the character too quickly and then afflicting him with AIDS. In attempting to get as much information about the film into the minds of the viewer, they’ve inadvertently turned this human drama into an anti-government screed. While I can appreciate that to an extent, I think it’s a disservice to the potential interpersonal drama at the heart of the film.

Oscar Prospects:

The obvious contention is that Matthew McConaughey could play his most recent persona and his dramatic weight loss for Oscar consideration. If the film is any good, Jared Leto could also be up for considering in Best Supporting Actress. However, critics could just as easily doom all but McConaughey.
