Release Date:

November 22, 2013

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “An affable underachiever finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them file a lawsuit to reveal his identity.”

Poster: B- / C+

Review: Ultimately, the two designs are virtually identical, using the same visual aspects to say this is a man who fathered many children. Yet, the first design is more symbolically creative, raising the protagonist above the children he’s fathered, making him seem like a godlike figure.

Trailer: C- / B-

Review: The teaser trailer fails to elicit a single bit of effective humor. They choose a wooden Vince Vaughn moment and a lazy premise setup to try and evoke interest from the audience.

The second trailer makes the film far more appealing as it focuses on the humanistic elements of the comedy, but again downplays the humorous elements of the plot. It also makes me more interested in seeing the indie original on which this film is loosely based (Starbuck).

Oscar Prospects:

None.
