Synopsis:

From IMDb: “Italian-born Massimo and Lella Vignelli are among the world’s most influential designers. Throughout their long career, their motto has been, ‘If you can’t find it, design it’ The work covers such a broad spectrum that one could say the Vignellis are known by everybody, even those who don’t know their names. From graphics to interiors to products and corporate identities, the film brings us into the work and everyday moments of the Vignellis’ world, capturing their intelligence and creativity, as well as their humanity, warmth, and humor.”

Poster: B-

Review: It’s a simple design, which does invoke the designs of the subjects of the film, but it may be too minimalist to appeal to a broader demographic than the very narrow, design-friendly niche that will already be drawn to it.

Trailer: C+

Review: These artists are certainly important figures in the design world, but after the interesting motif established at the beginning of the trailer, the documentary is boiled down to a laundry list of images of the artists’ designs over the decades, which makes you wonder what background material the film actually contains.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
