From IMDb: “When the network of satellites designed to control the global climate start to attack Earth, it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone.”

Poster Rating: C / C- / C+

Review: (#1) A giant killer wave gives a sense of place and perspective, but the overall result just feels inauthentic. (#2) Using the same scene from the prior poster and turning the wave into a cyclone is a poor choice. That it’s poorly overlaid and visually inconsistent doesn’t help. (#3) The Burj doesn’t look like it’s connected creating a forced perspective that is off. It’s still more interesting than the prior design.

Trailer Rating: B / B-

Review: (#1) While I’m sure we’ll get more trailers as the film’s release date approaches, this particular trailer is designed to build interest and with plenty of mayhem and destruction, it’s certainly to build a small base from which to build on with later trailers.

(#2) I love disaster films and I know there are many like me. While the plot is so hopelessly corny, the effects and events look modestly fun, which will please fans of disaster movies, but perhaps no one else.

Oscar Prospects:

It could be a nominee for Best Visual Effects or maybe the sound awards, but it’s ultimately unlikely to be much of a competitor.
