Review: (#1) It’s an iconic mask. The contours, age lines, and pock marks certainly add to its thematic relevance. It’s also got a lot of, pardon the pun, dead space.

(#2) Someone painted a picture of Michael Myers and that’s almost all anyone needs to be compelled to see the film even if the design is otherwise inconsequential. (#3) This excessively simplistic design is no less compelling. Comparing the aged visage of original film star Jamie Lee Curtis with that of the aged mask of Michael Myers and there is a lot of symbolic relevance as well.

(#4) Another “Killer” poster that has no creative energy. (#5) This feels more like fan art than a credible poster design.

Trailer Rating: B / B

Review: (#1) Fans of the original John Carpenter film will find a lot of intriguing elements to this trailer, even without the wonderful use of the chilling Carpenter-written theme. There’s not enough Jamie Lee Curtis in it, but there’s just enough to make this look like it might be good Autumn fun.

(#2) The familiar theme is here. The lovely Jamie Lee Curtis is here. The carnage is here. This trailer gives any fan of the series a shot in the arm to see it. However, it doesn’t break out to appeal to wider audiences as much as it could.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
