Poster: D+ / C- / C / B-

Review: It’s little more than a teaser, so we should expect many more designs in the future. However, as a teaser, it’s a weak and boring one.

(#2-#5) Other than the direction in which The Rock is brooding, these posters are slightly distinctive. The first and second designs are very similar, but the third design, for the French market is vastly different while the Russian market design (#4) is akin to the first two, but with a more traditional Hollywood style. The fifth design may be a touch more simplified than the fourth, but it’s not your typical Hollywood blockbuster design giving a touch more impact.

Trailer: C- / C

Review: All action and no plot, that’s what this pointless action chronicle of the Greek myth of Hercules. That could be why they chose an actor with limited range to portray their protagonist. He looks perfect for this particular role and that’s not a compliment.

(#2) A broader view of the film as a whole, featuring plenty of war scenes, masculine boasting and other events that will appeal to the core young adult male audience, should prove a capable sales tool for audiences. However, most other audiences that might be brought into a more keen epic or tale of mythology aren’t going to be impressed by the second trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

There are chances in the creative and tech categories, but not many.
