Review: (#1) I suppose if you’re fascinated by submarines in an ice floe, this might be compelling. For everyone else it’s dull. (#2) This has a lot more detail, but it’s also more formulaic and too much resembles a VHS home video cover.

(#3) There are a lot of elements to this design, which should help identify it as a submarine-based action film, but it doesn’t look that exciting. (#4) This is not The Hunt for Red October, but they sure seem to want to give that impression, albeit poorly. (#5) Another design with cobbled-together elements that tell the viewer what they’re expecting, but without any flair or style. (#6) The probably aren’t permitted to reproduce the Oscar statuette like that, but the design is so unappealing and mediocre, it probably wouldn’t be worth complaining about.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1) If you’ve seen one submarine war film, you’ve seen them all. This Cold War relic feels antiquated and unappealing thanks to a trailer that draws its inspiration from better films.

(#2) A explosion-filled, action-heavy trailer that will appeal to anyone who loves submarine movies, but if that happens to cross-sect with people who love good movies, it might lose a few adherents.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
