Review: (#1) This poster suggests there are only three important characters, but that seems unusual. The star field reflections just aren’t as interesting as the designer likely imagined. (#2) This is the kind of design that conjures up the kind of terror that made the Alien films interesting while avoid the kind of detail that would make it feel more lifelike.

(#3) While it’s not the most richly design, it has a nice balance of color, features the characters with strong, noble mien, and creates a sense of time and place that modestly works. (#4-#6) These character posters might identify the film’s three leads, but it does so with dull visuals and bland lettering.

Review: (#1) Science fiction has seen a major rebirth in the last few years and while the movie doesn’t look like awards bait, it’s prime summer release might make it a box office success and with a trailer like this, that becomes a distinct possibility. It highlights all the excitement and thrills that would typically make this kind of film successful.

(#2) There aren’t many changes, if any, from the prior trailer. The film still has a lot of breathless excitement to prepare the audience for intrigue.

(#3) It starts off well enough, giving the audience a different vision of the type of film it is, especially compared to prior designs. However, as it progresses, it seems to hit the same notes multiple times making it feel more redundant than exciting at times.

(#4) This film continues to create opportunities for comparison to the Alien franchise while trying to convince the audience that it is not only different, but interesting. The trailers could do a better job of convincing, but the trailer creators don’t seem interested in helping.

Oscar Prospects:

It could be a player in creative categories, but the Summer release doesn’t give one hope that it could play in other categories very well.
