Review: There are some very interesting possibilities with a film like this, so going utterly and blandly convention is probably not the best course.

Trailer: C+

Review: Bobby Fischer meets Stand and Deliver with all the resulting lack of originality or purpose. Perhaps it will speak to a demographic in desperate need of its message. However, I’m more likely to believe everyone will see the same recycled plot straining against a stretched chess premise.
