Review: (#1) The moody noir feeling is fits perfectly the style of the film. It won’t win awards, but it’s fitting either way.

(#2) The design isn’t the least bit of inventive, but the colors are nicely balanced and the character image insets at the bottom are at least done with some measure of style.

Trailer Rating: B / B+

Review: (#1) The mob movie with a distinctive Bostonian feel will appeal not only to Ben Affleck fans, but fans of gangster films, Boston-set dramas, and possibly even noir enthusiasts. That level of broad interest could help it become another hit for Affleck.

(#2) If it was possible to be more excited about this period gangster film, this trailer delivers. There’s plenty here to evoke a sense of style and place that few films can immediately capture and the suggestion of plenty of intertwined drama makes it seem even more interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

Always consider Ben Affleck’s films as contenders. A period drama from an Oscar-winning filmmaker (his Oscar was for screenwriting, to be clear), could be an easy sell to the Academy.
