Review: (#1) A light, airy and mis-titled poster that tries too hard to suggest it has a lot of Parkour moves in it without having any. The title is clearly an old one, now abandoned, but it is a further sign that it probably isn’t that good to begin with. (#2) Something of a companion piece to the first design, this one goes for the darker side of the theme and puts our protagonist’s handler in the spotlight, or rather the darkness as he manipulates the lead into doing his necessitous bidding.

(#3-#8) Reminiscent of some of the designs for The Divergent Series: Insurgen, they play too heavily into the [bracket] concept that is a part of the film’s working title, which doesn’t seem that compelling in hindsight, or foresight for that matter. (#9) Our protagonist is on fire. Of course that’s just a literal interpretation, but the design doesn’t seem particularly enthused about doing something more conceptually deep. Still, it’s a far more active and interesting design than anything done before the title change, so it wins solely because of that.

Review: It’s absolutely no wonder the film went through a title change. Firstly, who really understands the term “spooks” and doesn’t misunderstand its racial connotation. Secondly, it doesn’t fit the premise nearly as well as it should and even then, it can’t pep up interest in a film that looks like it breaks no new ground.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
