Poster: B+ / B (4) / B- / C+

Review: (#1) It has just the right blend of corny mischief and palatial depth. It’s not perfect, but does admirably well conveying the protagonist’s careless nonchalance. (#2-#5) These somewhat corny character designs do little to distingish themselves from one another, merely changing hue of the background and not the design. While it’s slightly amusing to see them all wearing the title character’s mustache, that’s really not that interesting in the end. (#6) A nice teaser that doesn’t have a lot of graceful impact. (#7) Taking the elements of the first design and opening them up to an exotic locale doesn’t add depth to the design, it only adds clutter.

Trailer: C+ / B-

Review: (#1) The first poster is a bit too strongly cheeky for its own good. There’s enough to tease would-be viewers who have a fetish for off-the-wall Johnny Depp films, but not for many others. (#2) The second design makes this globe-trotting caper seem a bit more fun, though still lacking the depth to appeal to non-Depp fans.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
