Review: (#1) When this poster came out, the internet had a field day with the implausibility of it. While that’s an interesting factor, it doesn’t have much impact on the general look and feel of the design. Apart from the fact that this particular jump happens during the day time according to the trailer, it’s well balanced with detailed background making it won worth looking at, scientific accuracy or not.

(#2) There’s excitement here, but you cannot tell it from Dwayne Johnson’s face, which sets the design off a bit. Yet, the acrophobic design will elicit the right effect.

(#3) Other than the protective element, this design is dull and uninspiring. (#4) The much-ridiculed gantry jump is given a different angle and it doesn’t improve anything. (#5 & #6) Clearly understanding how this film looks like a cross between Die Hard and The Towering Inferno, it’s rather surprising that they are running with that producing two posters that look nearly identical to the posters for those two films.

Trailer Rating: B- / C / C+

Review: (#1) While it’s not precisely the plot to The Towering Inferno, there are sufficient elements to make this feel almost like a remake of that Irwin Allen classic. That said, there are some unique elements that are also borrowed from other plots, like Die Hard, however, that doesn’t quite diminish its potential.

(#2) In a film that looks like a cheap mash-up of Die Hard and The Towering Inferno, Dwayne Johnson meanders his way through a trailer that lacks imagination and excitement. While there are moments where you suspect there might be more within the final film, it’s hard to build up too much interest in them.

(#3) Hinging your entire advertising campaign on one scene, even one that has the potential to be thrilling, doesn’t exactly make for a solid selling point.

Oscar Prospects:

The film might play in some of the tech categories, but I suspect it won’t even make the cut.
