Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A lawyer finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking.”

Poster: B / C (5) / D

Review: Although it reminds me of dallas, the design works to highlight all five leads without resorting to ridiculous 5-picture square inserts like a lot of films seem wont to do. The design is colorful and engaging without being detailed and that lack of detail is the only problem.

Were that the five character posters all entirely similar, it would be a decent set; however, the Brad Pitt image is entirely unlike the others creating a dichotomy that is ultimately distracting. The limitations of the design are also evident in the washed out style of the other four actors and putting them all around the Pitt design might work, but without seeing the movie, it’s hard to tell if stylistically this separation is important.

This is more akin to the frustrating designs I referenced when discussing the first poster. A small set of five character insets that doesn’t create a distinctive of visually pleasing style and listing the actor last names is entirely unnecessary and only serves to fill out the blank space. The first poster is definitely a better choice in comparison.

Trailer: C+

Review: If you can figure out what this movie is about from the trailer, you’re a better sleuth than I. A confusing, muddled attempt to play off of celebrity to sell a movie without substance.

Oscar Prospects:

With the cast alone, you would think this was going to be a big Oscar contender, but this trailer doesn’t promise anything particularly exciting or appealing to Oscar voters.
