Release Date:

June 6, 2014

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.”

Review: It might appeal to fans of or those familiar with the book on which the film is based. However, the design just isn’t that interesting even if modestly poignant.

Trailer: C

Review: It tries to present hope and deftly avoids dramatics, but half the time that’s what sells tickets. If you aren’t familiar with the novel, this trailer isn’t going to do much to convince you that you have to see it.

Oscar Prospects:

A box office hit would certainly help, but the film is reminding me a lot of The Spectacular Now, which was supposed to be a minor Oscar contender last year and made absolutely no show of it.
