(August 2, 2015) New Trailer (#2) / Updated Release Date (changed from 7/31/15) / Page Redesigned

Release Date:

August 7, 2015

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A young married couple’s lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when an acquaintance from the husband’s past brings mysterious gifts and a horrifying secret to light after more than 20 years.”

Poster Rating: C+ / B- / C+

Review: (#1-#3) This trio of posters, although they form an effective triptych for the film, aren’t equal with the door open design being the best of the three.

Trailer Rating: B / C+

Review: (#1) Seeing Jason Bateman in a rare thriller is interesting, but the trailer plays off of standard tropes making the potential mystery at the center feel like an antiquated concept.

(#2) Adding the lengthy introduction about people who’ve gone back and killed the ones who tormented them in High School is a bit moribund even for a pseudo-horror thriller. If they had shortened that intro, it might have had a little more impact on the rest of the truncated trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
