Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A group of student activists travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a dying tribe. Unfortunately, they crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they protected.”

Review: It’s nice that they are avoiding a reference to the title by keeping everything bathed in a pink tone; however, this poster doesn’t evoke a sense of viewing necessity or even horror excitement. It’s bland and lifeless.

Trailer: C+ / C-

Review: I’ll give producers the tension aspect. They don’t give much away, but they do keep the fear real. The problem is they also don’t give us enough idea whether we should care about the people in the film. With no rooting interest, you can’t grab enough attention to be a hit.

(#2) We are finally given information about why these attractive youngsters have ended up in the middle of the Amazon and on the menu for cannibals, but the film still doesn’t have a hook that grabs your attention. A bunch of scared white kids being held prisoner by a bunch of painted aborigines. Anyone with a sense of perspective should be appalled by the cavalier treatment of native peoples and one can only hope that it’s a bait-and-switch.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
